Speak up, Herman....
I just finished making a batch of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) and had the best time playing with some extra supplies/paints/ink/ etc.etc. I am in a swap that is concentrating on "women" in print type of thing. When I emailed my catagory of choice to the hostess I told her that I was going to do mine to feature a "mom" on vintage tv. I threw out some possibilities: June Cleaver, Marian Cunningham, Harriet Nelson, etc. and she thought that was a great idea. So I got online and searched out photos and didn't find anything that sparked my creativity until I remembered Lillian Munster, Yvonne DeCarlo. She was great, A "real" mom. Someone who showed her disappointments, frustrations, and emotions being married to a big ole block head.. I chukled and thought...Now, THIS is a perfect "mom" with which to create my cards.
Making the cards, in turn, got me to thinking....if you took away the theme of "munster" you would have a pretty normal average home. There was Eddie, who faced the same problems that our kids face. There was the uncle, who everyone loved, there was the "odd" cousin, and then there was Herman. You all know that you can identify with Lillian.. We used to laugh at all the hairbrained things which Herman involved himself and his cohort, Uncle Charlie, because they depicted some strange situations. I truly think that we laughed, not so much because we couldn't believe the things that they did, but just maybe because all the family dynamics hit a little close to home....
I'm just glad that we don't have a "Spot" living in our basement....
Have a wonderful Glorious Day!
